Rep. Lloyd Smucker (R-PA)

LLOYD SMUCKER sits on two committees: Ways and Means, and Budget.

Smucker puts forth little in the way of legislation. He participates in a great deal of semantics. Often a bill he introduces will change a single word in existing legislation.

He's best known for his "remarks" on the floor of the House, rambling on and on about work anniversaries and retirements for people in his district. I am guessing that Republicans keep him because he is a dependable MAGA vote.

Doesn't matter that he generates little legislation. He shows up for votes. And votes as instructed. And makes "remarks" on the floor of the House benefiting a city council member.

Below is the legislative record for Rep. Lloyd Smucker beginning with June 12, 2025.

  • January 1, 2026 -
  • November 9, 2025 - December 31, 2025: One banal remark on the floor of the House. One "personal explanation" for absence. One remark introducing his legislation. Legislation: Life at Conception Act; Improve and Enhance the Work Opportunity Tax Credit Act; Providing Distance Education for Foreign Institutions Act; DIGNIDAD (Dignity for Immigrants while Guarding our Nation to Ignite and Deliver the American Dream—Dignity) Act of 2025. Resolutions: Voted in favor of censuring Mark Kelly et al; voted to table Al Green's impeachment resolution.
  • September 20, 2025-November 8, 2025: Eight banal remarks on the floor of the House. Legislation: Home delivery for seniors; prohibition on slaughter of equines (horses); No Pay For Congress and Pay Our Troops (late cosponsor); prevent persons on strike from collecting unemployment; Firearm Industry Non-Discrimination Act; VA Billing Accountability Act; Dismantle DEI Act of 2025; and, surprisingly, one single good bill benefiting veterans.
  • August 23, 2025-September 19, 2025: Smucker made five sycophantic "remarks" on the floor of the House. Legislation: All were semantic in nature. He voted for the House resolution honoring Charlie Kirk. And-surprisingly--he cosponsored a Democratic bill, Afghan Adjustment Act, recognizing the special status of Afghan refugees who assisted the USA during the Afghan war.
  • July 18, 2025-August 22, 2025:  Five "remarks" on the floor of the House. Legislation: Right-to-work (anti-union) bill.
  • July 18, 2025-July 25, 2025: Smucker's committee activities: July 25-26, Smucker and his colleagues on Ways and Means took a taxpayer-funded vacation to Las Vegas, NV and Simi Valley, CA. Purpose of the vacation? Hyping the Big Bad Bill.
  • July 1, 2025-July 17, 2025: Three banal "city council" remarks on the floor of the House. Legislation: Legal Workforce Act, Hospital Inpatient Services Modernization Act, and, Religious Exemptions for Social Security and Healthcare Taxes Act.
  • June 12, 2025-June 30, 2025: Three banal remarks congratulating people in his district; one remark on the floor of the House supporting Trump's Big Bad Bill;. Legislation: A bill to nullify Biden-era wage rule; sanctioning Russia; semantic change to a Medicare bill.
