Travelogue: Index

United States

  • Staying close to home... Or road tripping. What's your pleasure?
    • Staying close to home: I want to walk you down paths familiar to me, hoping that as you accompany me on these roads less taken, your eyes will see your own familiar places anew, refreshed, and you’ll fight to keep them.
  • Arkansas
  • California
  • Delaware
  • Florida
  • Georgia
    • Jekyll Island--The beauty of perfect strangers: That is the beauty of these encounters with perfect strangers. We are granted a glimpse into the United States that still exists, a country where there’s still openness. That is worth fighting for.
  • Kentucky
  • Maryland
  • Nevada
  • New Jersey
  • New Mexico
  • New York
  • Oklahoma
  • Pennsylvania
    • Kennett Square--The magic of Longwood Gardens: Longwood encourages children (and grownups like me) to touch flower petals, run fingers through the water, walk on the grass, climb the treehouse, take off through the meadow.
    • Lumberville--Sleeping with ghosts. And a president: This place reminded me that before we were the United States of America, we were a British colony. The Black Bass combines both elements of our past.
    • Shanksville, remembering: In September 2019, I visited the Flight 93 memorial near Shanksville, Pennsylvania for the first time. I wasn’t prepared for the rush of emotions.
  • Tennessee
  • Texas
  • Utah
  • Washington, DC
  • West Virginia
    • Beckley, West Virginia: The surprise of beauty: Beckley, West Virginia. A tiny little corner of these United States. Filled with surprising beauty at every turn.

Germany

  • Bad Heilbrunn:
  • Füssen--Perspective (the castles): ...Wealth when flaunted breeds hate. Taxes used for personal gain will inevitably foment discontent. A king can only keep his foot on the necks of the peasants he rules until he loses all power.
  • Meiβen--Albrechtsburg and the cathedral: Meiβen, Germany: Meiβen has far more meaning than simply porcelain, more than this complex on top of the hill. The town has been the center of Germany’s “eastern frontier” since the days of the Holy Roman Empire.
  • Munich:
  • Tegernsee
  • Walchensee
