Alcohol, tobacco, firearms and explosives and gun control

     

     It's surprising to me that an agency with the power and reach of ATF is subject of so little proposed legislation. If there's a committee I should be looking at for this topic, please let me know!
     Are they operating outside the scope of law? What is going on?
     I am also shocked by Republicans who vote against bills regarding gun safety. Not even gun control, just safety. What does the NRA have against safety issues?
     Highlighted legislation has 20+ sponsors/cosponsors.

Proposed legislation:

• July 17, 2025 - August 22, 2025: The only "legislation" that had 20+ cosponsors was a Senate resolution recognizing August 2025 as “National Shooting Sports Month.” Everything else, related to gun safety, likely will not get out of committee.
