Proposed legislation related to rural health: July 17, 2025 – August 22, 2025

H.R.4681 - SPARC Act (Specialty Physicians Advancing Rural Care Act). To amend the Public Health Service Act to authorize a loan repayment program to encourage specialty medicine physicians to serve in rural communities experiencing a shortage of specialty medicine physicians.
Introduced July 23, 2025 by JOHN JOYCE. Cosponsored by Deborah Ross (D-NC), Eugene Vindman (D-VA), Brittany Pettersen (D-CO), and Gabe Vasquez (D-NM). Referred to the House Committee on Energy and Commerce the same day.
Comment: This is a good bill. Hope it finds traction.
PS: I am shocked that John Joyce introduced this bill. Despite his being a medical doctor, there are far too many times he’s silent. Something positive!
